MJHS is now “Tweeting”. In a effort to further enhance communication, MJHS has set up a Twitter account. Here is an overview of what Twitter is from the Wikipedia website:
Twitter is a free social networking and microblogging service that enables its users to send and read messages known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the author's profile page and delivered to the author's subscribers who are known as followers. Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow open access. Ever since late 2009, users can follow lists of authors instead of following individual authors [3]HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitter" l "cite_note-lists2-3" [4]. All users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, Short Message Service (SMS) or external applications. While the service itself costs nothing to use, accessing it through SMS may incur phone service provider fees.
Since its creation in 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Twitter has gained notability and popularity worldwide. It is sometimes described as "SMS of the Internet"[5] The use of Twitter's application programming interface for sending and receiving text messages by other applications often eclipses direct use of Twitter.
Our plan at MJHS is to use Twitter to send out announcements and information about our school. There will also be several articles that are “retweeted” that concern the world of education. I am truly excited about this application. In order to follow MJHS on Twitter, you must do the following:
1.) Sign up for a user account at twitter.com
2.) Become a follower of MJHS - Our address is twitter.com/MJHSJrPtrs
You can use your Twitter account from your computer or phone. If you have any questions about Twitter, please do not hesitate to call Mr. Crider at school.

District 709 Facilities Study
Morton District 709 is currently conducting a Facilities Study to create a short-term and long-term plan for the school buildings. A core committee of members of the Morton and Groveland communities will be looking at options for the future and then presenting those ideas to the board of education. This process will continue through the 2009 calendar year. The administration and the board of education would also like the community to be aware of information that has been gathered regarding the condition of the facilities. Please look at the information provided on the main page of the District 709 Web site -
www.morton709.org under the "latest news" on the left side. That information includes an overview of each school in the district. Each school has been evaluated by a team of architects and construction professionals to determine the ratings that are listed. A Frequently Asked Questions list has also been compiled. More information will be added to the Web site as it becomes available, so continue to look for updates.Dr. Kilpatrick addressed the Morton Rotary Club concerning the Facilities Study. This address may be viewed on Comcast Cable Channel 20 daily, at 9:00 A.M., 2:00 P.M., and 9:00 P.M. You may also click here to see videos of this speech.
If you have any questions about the Facilities Study, please contact Carol Jankowski, Communication Coordinator, via e-mail - Carol.Jankowski@morton709.org
