The Amazing Race is coming to MJHS!
This year Morton Junior High School has decided to take part in a school-wide thematic unit. The theme for this year’s unit will be based on the hit television show, The Amazing Race.
Each of the teams at MJHS (Green, White, Gray, and Red) will represent a “team” competing in the amazing race. The first nine weeks we have chosen to tie our The Amazing Race theme into a more localized event, the Pumpkin Festival. More specifically, our amazing race will happen as a model of the Pumpkin Festival Parade. The first quarter teams will be “Marching Through Morton.”
A map of the Pumpkin Festival Parade route will be hung in the cafeteria at MJHS. Teams will compete for points throughout the first quarter, with the first team reaching 1000 points being declared the winner! Local landmarks will account for various point markers on the map and points will be updated every Friday during the students’ lunch period.
IMPORTANT DATES:
~ August 23 - September 10 - MAP testing
~ September 6 - NO SCHOOL, Labor Day
~ September 14 - "Meet The Teacher" Night
~ September 17 - First 9 Weeks Mid-Term
~ October 11 - NO SCHOOL, Columbus Day
~ October 15 - End first 9 Weeks
