Administration

About the Principal

Welcome!

Thank you for visiting the Morton Junior High website. I was hired as principal at Morton Junior High School in 2012. I attended the University of Illinois for my undergraduate degree and later received a Masters in Educational Administration from Bradley University. I began my teaching career in New Orleans Public Schools where I taught fifth grade with Teach for America. Upon completing my two-year commitment to the program, my wife, Shalome, and I moved to Indianapolis. There I taught fourth grade and seventh grade science at Heritage Christian School. While teaching I coached middle school baseball and basketball. In 2007, we moved to Morton, and I taught fifth grade at Lincoln Elementary. My administrative experience includes being the junior high principal and high school assistant principal at Deer Creek-Mackinaw Schools and the principal at Lettie Brown Elementary. My family feels blessed to be part of the Morton community and school district.

Educational philosophy

I believe a school is most successful when all stakeholders are united in encouraging students to fulfill their potential by embracing each child’s individual value and giving them high expectations for future successes.

About the Assistant Prinicipal

As the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director here at Morton Junior High School, it is my privilege to serve the Morton-Groveland community.  I have been here at Morton Junior High School since 2006 after spending nine years at Tri-Valley Middle School as a 6th Grade Language Arts, Reading and Social Studies teacher and basketball and track coach.

As a life-long Central Illinois resident, I graduated from Eureka College in 1997 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in elementary education and a middle school endorsement.  While I was at EC, I played basketball and was fortunate to be a member of the National Championship team in 1994.  I also graduated from Illinois State University in 2006 with a Master’s degree in Educational Administration.

My wife, Stacy, teaches kindergarten at Starke Primary School in Pekin.  We have three children:  Abby, Ben, and Katy. We love being part of this wonderful community and enjoy meeting our Junior Potter families.  Please stop by the school any time! My door is always open!
