Believing that lifetime learning is important, we challenge students to make connections between their coursework and real world experiences.  These connections are made through inter-disciplinary units including a SCUBA diving experience, a Thanksgiving Feast, and an exploration of the concept of flight.  Throughout the year, mini-IDU’s often combine two or more curricular areas to help students link ideas and better understand the concepts we teach.

Mrs. Peckmann
Language Arts

All About Me
I was born in the southern suburbs of Chicago though I have lived all over New York and Illinois.  After tearing through the school systems of Amherst, NY and Libertyville, IL, countless dance recitals/shows, and a very brief stint on the Today show I found myself at Illinois State University studying English Education.  During my student teaching assignment I discovered that I loved working with middle schoolers and couldn’t see myself teaching any other grade level.  In 2003 the fine people at ISU found me fit to receive a B.S. in English. From there I accepted a teaching position in Mendota, IL, and then finally ended up in Morton where I am in my second year of teaching eighth grade language arts.  I am also a speech team coach. I am excited to be a part of the staff at MJHS, and feel privileged to be teaching a group of students who seem to truly have an innate desire to learn.  In my spare time I can be found rooting on the Cubbies or the Buffalo Bills (I like the underdogs), reading a good book, traveling, hanging out with my husband and stepsons, and my favorite -- grading papers.  Feel free to contact me at anytime with questions or concerns.

Mrs. Luginbuhl
Resource

About the Teacher:
Hello! I’m Mrs. L. and I love my job. I have a passion for learning and infect as many unsuspecting victims with that enthusiasm as I possibly can. This is my 2nd year teaching at MJHS. I graduated from Illinois State University in 2006 with a Bachelors of Science as a Learning and Behavior Specialist I. I am also certified to teach language arts through 8th grade.

As a resource teacher, I spend much of my time in the Gray Team general education classes. If your son or daughter is struggling, please call or email me. Together, we can consider some things your child can do at school and at home that may be exactly he or she needs to succeed. I also serve as sponsor for the Homework Club on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15-4:00. This club serves as extra time to study, use the library computers, and work on homework. It is a great option for kids in music classes who do not have study hall. Stop by and check it out!

Mission:
My mission is to equip students with the academic and interpersonal skills they need to succeed in life beyond school.
