Parents will need to create a new account in PowerSchool that allows access to all of their children's PS information in one account. The attached document explains how to create the new account.  ALL parents will have to create a new account whether they have one child or more than one.  Click here for more information.

PARENT EMAIL LISTSERV
Morton Junior High is introducing an additional way for teachers to communicate directly with parents. Parents have the opportunity to sign up for an email "listserv" through Google Groups. By signing up, parents will be able to receive emails from their child's teachers regarding general team information and upcoming school events.

CLUBS

Co-Curricular Activities may vary according to availability of sponsors. Activities are open to all students. And all school rules apply.

Adventure Club -
Adventure Club offers MJHS students fun opportunities to meet new people and to hang out with friends. The activities include breakfast club and evening events. The events are determined based on students' interests and are usually organized for Friday nights. All MJHS students are welcome participate in the events even if they are not an active member.

Various club activities take place during the school year. Students can take part in leadership roles, fun social gatherings, and it is a great way to get involved. Some of the activities in the past have included meetings, breakfast clubs, go-carting, Peoria Chiefs games, movies, roller skating parties, bowling, Jaycees Haunted House, pizza parties, sport games, etc. New ideas are always welcome to be introduced.


Architectural Model Club - Mrs. Goss

Students will design a floor plan and build a scale model of a chosen plan.


Art Club -
Mrs. Becker
Art Club meets formally on Tuesdays from 3-4:00... times may be extended for some projects. Students can come in after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays until 3:45 to work on their projects independently, but those are not instruction days. There is no cost, and students may join anytime that fits their schedule.



Chess Club

Mr. Yarcho
Members play chess at club meetings and attend the county tournament. The club meets one night per week after school from November through February.


Homework Club
-
Mr. Terhark
Homework Club meets from 3:00 until 4:000 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Teachers and tutors are available to assist on daily homework, class projects, and with quiz/test review. It is an opportunity for students to receive the extra help, time, or resources they might need to complete classroom assignments.


Open Computer Lab - Mrs. Plevka
The Writing Lab will be open on designated days after school until 4:00 p.m. Open Computer Lab provides students with the opportunity to use the laptop computers to complete assignments and projects from any class. Students can also use Open Computer Lab to explore available software programs. Students wanting to improve their typing skills can practice keyboarding through Applied MicroType Keyboarding. Students do not need to sign up in advance or attend every week.

This is the school newspaper that showcases student writing which informs students about MJHS happenings as well as entertaining the student body (6 issues a year).


Student Council -
Mr. Terhark and Mrs. Roberts
Students petition to run in a campaign election. Members represent the student body, plan school social activities, and promote school spirit. Members-at-large - no petition required.


Yearbook -
Mrs. Roberts and Mrs. Plevka
Members compile the memories of the year at MJHS in a picture format. Pictures are taken, layouts of pages are created, deadlines are met, and the MJHS yearbook is produced.


Young Authors -
Miss Hasler
Students are offered an outlet for their creative imaginations. Students participate in local, regional, and national writing competitions to showcase their ability in a variety of writing categories.
