Mr. Crider
About the Principal:
Welcome to Morton Junior High School! I will be entering my third year as principal at MJHS. I was born and raised in Dunlap, IL. I graduated from Dunlap High School in 1992 and then attended Eureka College. While at Eureka, I was lucky enough to be a member of the 1994 NAIA National Championship basketball team. I graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education with middle school endorsements in Language Arts and Social Science. I was hired by the Tremont School district where I taught math, history, and science at the junior high level. During my 9-year tenure at Tremont, I coached many sports including football, baseball, and was the head boys basketball coach. In May of 2005, I graduated from Bradley University with a Masters degree in Educational Administration. My wife Jennifer is an adjunct instructor with Illinois Wesleyan University and is a private tutor. We have three wonderful children – Jarrett, Elyse, and Isabella. Please stop in to say 'hi' and introduce yourself!
My Mission:
My favorite quote is “To whom much is given, much is required.” I want to thank you for entrusting me to do what is right for the students and staff of MJHS. I realize that I have been given a great opportunity to help influence students lives. I plan to do that by fostering a school culture that is shared, enthusiastic, and encouraging for young people to grow and become life long learners.

Mr. Carter - Assistant Principal
About the Assistant Principal:
As the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director here at Morton Junior High School, it is my privilege to serve the Morton-Groveland community. My family and I are very excited to be Junior Potters and look forward to continue meeting all the students and families that make 709 such a special place!
I am originally from nearby Bloomington and graduated from Central Catholic High School. I then attended Eureka College where I graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in elementary education with a middle school endorsement. Most recently I graduated from Illinois State University with a Master’s in Educational Administration. Prior to coming to Morton in 2006, I spent nine years teaching and coaching at Tri-Valley Middle School in Downs where I taught language arts, reading, and social studies while also coaching basketball, track, and golf.
My wife Stacy is also a teacher but is currently staying home with our three children: Abby, 6; Ben, 3; and Katy, 1. We are thrilled to be a part of this wonderful community and look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you. Please stop by the school any time! My door is always open!
