Co-Curricular Activities may vary according to availability of sponsors.  Activities are open to all students.

 


Adventure Club - Mrs. Lehman

          Adventure Club offers MJHS student’s fun opportunities to meet new people and to hang out with friends.  This club was formed to help students become better acquainted, encourage healthy friendships, and to enhance positive social development.  Every MJHS student is welcome to join and participate in Adventure Club activities as long as he or she remains in good standing behaviorally.

 

           Various club activities take place during the school year.  Students can take part in leadership roles, fun social gatherings, and it is a great way to get involved.  Some of the activities in the past have included meetings, breakfast clubs, Peoria In-Play, go-carting, Peoria Chiefs games, movies, roller skating parties, bowling, Jaycees Haunted House, pizza parties, sport games, etc.  New ideas are always welcome to be introduced. 

 

           Because of Adventure Club, many students have developed new and meaningful relationships along with terrific lasting memories at MJHS.

Rules & Regulations:

  • All school handbook and bus rules apply during Adventure Club activities.
  • Students must remain with their designated group.
  • Permission slips and money must be turned in on time to be eligible to participate in activities/trips.
  • Meetings and activities will be held various times throughout the school year.  Most events will be scheduled on Thursday or Friday.

Each student is capable of earning a school letter/pin by being a member of Adventure Club.  In order to earn such award, you must attend at least 40% of all events throughout the school year.



Architectural Model Club - Mr. Herrmann

           Students will design a floor plan on a computer and build a scale model of a chosen plan

 


Art Club - Mrs. Becker

           Art Club meets formally on Tuesdays from 3-4:00…times may be extended for some projects. Students can come in after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays until 3:45 to work on their projects independently, but those are not instruction days. There is no cost, and students may join anytime that fits their schedule. We suspend art club from the last week of January through the week after the play, although art club members are encouraged to work on the set/prop crew for the play if they are not interested in performing.



Chess Club
- Mr. Yarcho

           Members play chess at club meetings and attend the county tournament. The club meets one night per week after school from November through February.

 


Computer Club - Miss Parker

          A home computer is helpful.  The club is limited to 15 students.  Activities have included: explore using a computer as a tool, creating calendars, t-shirts, birthday newsletters, graphic and paint programs, investigate web site building, Internet use, learn to program in VISUAL BASIC.

 


Family and Consumer Science (FCS) Club - Mrs. Cassidy

Students will met after school beginning after in late January through March.
Students will have the opportunity to:

  • Construct sewing projects for friends/family/self;
  • Prepare holiday foods for the student body or as a community project;
  • Visit children’s hospital/nursing homes to distribute food or sewing projects 


High Tech Club

          Members build projects dealing with electricity, electronics, robotics, and aerospace (planes and rockets) by exploring technology using tech lab modules.  The club meets the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month from 3 – 5 P.M.  $5.00 fee.

 

Homework Club - Mrs. Luginbuhl

          Homework Club meets from 3:00 until 4:000 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Teachers and tutors are available to assist on daily homework, class projects, and with quiz/test review.  It is an opportunity for students to receive the extra help, time, or resources they might need to complete classroom assignments. 

  

 

Potter Pantagraph - Mrs. Andrews

          This is the school newspaper that showcases student writing which informs students about MJHS happenings as well as entertaining the student body (6 issues a year).

 

 

Science Club - Mrs. Cooper

         Students will work with other members in problem solving and science related activities.  Meets twice a month, after school.  See school announcements or club website for details.

 


Student Council - Mr. Herrmann and Miss Winchell

           Students petition to run in a campaign election.  Members represent the student body, plan school social activities, and promote school spirit.  Members-at-large – no petition required.

 


Yearbook - Mrs. Jost and Mrs. Zwaga

           Members compile the memories of the year at MJHS in a picture format.  Pictures are taken, layouts of pages are created, deadlines are met, and the MJHS yearbook is produced.
