Co-Curricular Activities may vary according to availability of sponsors. Activities are open to all students. And all school rules apply.

Adventure Club -
Adventure Club offers MJHS students fun opportunities to meet new people and to hang out with friends.  The activities are determined based on students' interests and are usually organized for Friday nights.  All MJHS students are welcome to participate in the events even if they are not active members.  Adventure Club generally hosts one outing per month.  Details about each outing will be included in school announcements and Mrs. Gingrass’ teacher webpage.  Students can also pick up flyers from Mrs. Gingrass.  Permission slips will be sent home for each outing (if off of school grounds).  Transportation is provided by MJHS.  Some of the activities in the past have included breakfast clubs, go-carting, Peoria Chiefs games, movies, roller skating parties, bowling, Jaycees Haunted House, pizza parties, sport games, etc. New ideas are always welcome to be introduced.  Adventure Club is a great way to be involved at MJHS!

Art Club - Mrs. DuPont

Art Club meets formally on Tuesdays from 3-4:00... times may be extended for some projects. Students can come in after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays until 3:45 to work on their projects independently, but those are not instruction days. There is no cost, and students may join anytime that fits their schedule.

Book Club

Chess Club - Mrs. Serrurier
Members play chess at club meetings.  We host a student/faculty tournament in December.  We attend a few tournaments, including the Tazewell County and IESA State Tournaments.  The club meets one afternoon a week from October through February.

Craft Club - Mrs. Goss

Homework Club - Mrs. Ogden

Homework Club meets in room 210 from 3:00 until 4:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It is an opportunity for students to recieve extra help, time, or resources they might need to complete classroom assignments.  Students who finish their work before 4:00 are free to leave.

Open Writing LabMrs. Plevka

The Writing Lab (in Room 116) will open at 7:20 each morning, so students have a place to work on homework before school. Students who want to work in the Writing Lab should enter the north side of the building and go into the gym following the usual morning procedure.

Students should check with the teacher on duty in the gym before heading to the Writing Lab. When the bell rings at 7:50, students will be dismissed from the Writing Lab to their first hour class.

Potter Pantagraph - Mrs. Plevka
The school newspaper, Potter Pantagraph, publishes six student newspapers during the school year with editions in October, November, December, February, March or April, and May. Potter Pantagraph will meet from 3:10-3:40 on the following dates to plan the upcoming edition: October 10, October 31, December 3, January 23, March 13, and April 24.

Students do not have to attend the meetings to write for the student newspaper. Anyone who has conflicts with the meeting dates can contact Mrs. Plevka with ideas for a story assignment.

To conserve paper, the Potter Pantagraph is distributed digitally through students’ school e-mail accounts, which allows students to receive full-color copies of the newspaper.

Yearbook - Mrs Dawson, Mrs. Miller

Members compile the memories of the year at MJHS in a picture format. Pictures are taken, layouts of pages are created, deadlines are met, and the MJHS yearbook is produced. Yearbook Club meets Wednesday mornings from 7:15 – 8:00 in Lab 211. Members are required to come to at least three meetings per month. Members are also responsible for working on their pages outside of club meeting time in order to finish them by our deadline. This club runs through the end of the school year.
